In the necropolis next to the Kelvin family grave can be found the stone of Lord Kelvin (William Thomson), possibly the greatest applied scientist of the Victorian era, as well as being responsible for the first transatlantic telegraph cable. Lord Kelvin is buried in Westminster Abby, London.
